St. Joseph School is dedicated to providing a Christ-centered education that allows all students to grow in their faith and acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to become life-long learners and productive Christian citizens with a constant focus on the Kingdom of God. The staff believes each child is a special gift from God. Therefore, each individual’s uniqueness is respected and each student is encouraged to reach their greatest potential. The entire community strives to respect and encourage each other.

This supportive environment is established through teaching social skills and character education to the entire population and adhering to a school-wide discipline plan. During the first few weeks of school the children practice greeting others, using please and thank you, giving compliments, accepting constructive criticism, standing up for themselves and determining when to seek assistance from an adult. Each morning the students recite a pledge promising to do their best and to respect each other. Additionally, children are referred to as Kids of Christ, a constant reminder of the expectations for behavior.

The entire community believes the learning process must be a challenging, joyous venture as well as an act of love. Each student feels valued and knows they can attain mastery of the essential content and then are willing to be challenged to move beyond. Children are encouraged to nurture, respect, accept, and embrace each other’s differences.

Because the entire community works together to ensure Christ’s presence is felt throughout the school everyone feels safe, secure and able to learn.
