South Davis Elementary School is a neighborhood school in the village of Orchard Park, a suburb of Buffalo, New York. It houses Kindergarten through fifth grade, with a student population of approximately 400 students and 69 teachers and support staff. South Davis is a learning community committed to a strong tradition of academic excellence.

Curriculum integration is the foundation of our school’s instructional philosophy, allowing for maximized teaching time to help students reach their fullest potential. Teachers create lessons and units aligned with the NYS Common Core Learning Standards that delve deeper into the curriculum and engage students in developing critical thinking skills. Reading and writing are integrated into all subject areas.

In both belief and practice, South Davis embraces the premise that the Home and School are the most powerful environments that impact our students. Teachers and staff promote a collaborative environment in which parents and guardians are recognized as essential partners in their child’s education. Parents and guardians are included in shared decision making, run school sponsored events through the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). This provides students with academic programming, field trips and technology equipment.

Building strong character is paramount at South Davis. We use the terms RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, AND REALLY GOOD MANNERS on a daily basis in all classrooms to promote good character. In addition, the Olewus Bully Prevention program is implemented in each classroom, which includes regular classroom meetings focusing on peer relations, bullying issues and proper behavior.

The South Davis Community believes that we provide our students with the skills and confidence to become healthy, lifelong learners and builders of their future.
