Immaculate Conception School - Annandale, NJ

Immaculate Conception School is a Catholic school serving approximately 500 students in the beautiful hills of rural Hunterdon County, NJ. The school began as the dream of a group of parishioners who wanted a Catholic education for their children. Through their tireless efforts, that dream came to fruition in 2001. ICS fulfills its mission of fostering spiritual growth, academic excellence, and moral integrity by being an extension of Christ the Teacher and partnering with families and parishioners to develop the whole child.

Building community and serving others are integral components of the ICS faith community. A Responsive Classroom approach, founded on Gospel Values, helps students to develop respect for themselves, respect for others, and respect for their school. Older students mentor younger students. K-8 cross grade-level groups called Faith Families meet monthly to perform spiritual or service activities. ICS’s focus on community service has not only resulted in numerous awards, but more importantly, it has developed in ICS students the sense of joy and self-worth that results from helping others.

Academic excellence is sustained through a child-centered curriculum based on the Common Core State Standards, the implementation of differentiated instruction, the integration of the latest technology, and the ongoing professional development of a highly qualified, certified teaching staff who work collaboratively as effective Professional Learning Communities. A cadre of volunteers supports a weekly program of intervention and/or enrichment to address individual academic needs. The school is equipped with a library/computer center, mobile carts of Apple laptops and iPads, as well as computers and SmartBoards in each classroom, enabling students to employ technology in all academic areas.
