It is a strong sense of independence and community that makes Newfields Elementary School stand out. Our students understand the value of their small town and cherish its history. Our fifth graders look forward to spending their last year here in the 107-year-old classrooms that make up the historic front of the school. While enjoying a multitude of modern technology and facility amenities in their school, the ‘old school’ is a right of passage for all Newfields graduates.

We are most proud of our awareness and work around the needs of the area communities. Our latest endeavor, 68 Hours of Hunger, collects and supplies food for area students to have over the weekend when school food programs are not available. Each week students in these schools receive backpacks filled with easy to prepare, easy to eat food items. This year we will are conducting monthly food drives that will focus on a specific item of need for the program.

Another current focus has been to build an understanding of the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. Volunteers built six raised beds gardens in an unused meadow. Students planned, planted and harvested beets, carrots, lettuces, spinach and radishes. These home grown foods were served at lunch as part of our High Five Friday. High Five Friday is celebrated each month and students have the opportunity to sample new and different healthy foods.

Students at Newfields Elementary School are hard working and highly engaged learners. Teachers are adept at using technology to enhance their instruction and entice learners to achieve to their potential. Our small classes and high teacher/student ratio offers personalized instruction for all.
