Three elements qualify Wisner-Pilger Elementary School (W-PES) to be a National Blue Ribbon School - eager students, research-based curricular programs, and a dedicated faculty and staff.

Wisner-Pilger Elementary students represent a variety of backgrounds and learning styles. Each day, W-PES students arrive at school with the goal of doing better than the day before and the determination to discover a little more with each opportunity to learn.

Over the past five years, W-PES students have been subject to transformational changes in both academic curricula and learning expectations. W-PES teachers have implemented researched-based reading and math curricular programs. The students have successfully adapted to new ways of learning in both content areas. Students at W-PES are acquiring decoding and comprehension skills earlier than ever before. Teachers are amazed by what their students are capable of as a result of their comprehensive math program. Both programs introduce new pieces of learning in smaller, more frequent increments. As a result, students better retain skills and concepts and thus, are able to more readily make application of them to unique learning situations.

In addition to our students and quality curricula, Wisner-Pilger Elementary School has what all great schools have - outstanding faculty and staff members. This remarkable group has willingly adapted and changed along side their students. W-PES teachers consistently put students’ needs before their own. Without enthusiastic and selfless teachers, W-PES students would not have made the significant academic gains that they have in recent years. Great teachers make a difference.

Students and teachers at Wisner-Pilger Elementary School approach each day together as an opportunity to develop the skills necessary to become successful contributors to our world.
