Wakefield Elementary School is a PK-6 building in rural Nebraska, home of one of the largest egg production companies in the United States; diversity is a key component to our community. Our community plays a vital role in helping our students be successful both in the classroom and outside of the school. The opportunities that are provided to our students are almost unheard of in a community our size.

Wakefield Elementary School has worked diligently to provide the best possible education for our students. Teachers, support staff, and administration have worked together to completely realign our curriculum in order to increase the rigor and expectations for our students. We have created an environment that requires students to rise above and meet high expectations in all content areas but especially in reading and mathematics.

One strength of our curriculum revision has been the focus on getting books and literature into the hands of students. Students take home mini books to read and discuss nightly with their families. Our expectation is that all students will read with someone at home. We have stressed the importance of literacy and language in the lives of our students to parents.

The diversity that is evident in our community is not a hinderance to our school family. Teachers and staff work hard to provide an education that is rigorous and requires our students to apply the skills they are learning. Parents are encouraged and welcomed by our school. We want to support our community by ensuring the best possible education.
