Keysor Elementary School is located in the heart of Kirkwood, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis. Serving 510 students, Keysor takes pride in its rich history while embracing the strategies students need today and will require in the future. Teachers are highly skilled and deeply committed to student success, collaborating to provide engaging instruction that builds upon learners’ strengths and meets their varied needs. Multi-tiered instructional supports are ongoing and intentional, based on careful analysis of formal and informal data. Varied teaching and learning opportunities include extended day sessions for roughly 15% of students. There is an inherent willingness to do whatever it takes to help each child succeed and – while academic achievement is always the goal, there is an overarching belief that developing the “whole child” is the key to this success. Critical thinking, creativity and collaboration are cultivated in all settings, as is a commitment to the arts, healthy choices and the role of play in learning. Pride groups bring students of all ages together around service learning themes and opportunities. Recent efforts – including the construction of outdoor learning spaces, reflect a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Family engagement is critical to all work at Keysor, as are relationships among children and adults. Intake conferences held in the first few weeks of school promote positive family-teacher relationships, which are continuously strengthened throughout the year. An innovative Keysor Cub program helps build early connections with future Keysor Kids and families through story times and other events. The school works closely with an active PTO to embrace inclusivity and promote a sense of belonging among all members of the Keysor Family.
