NBRS Badge for Hanover Elementary School

Hanover Elementary School - Hanover, MN

Hanover Elementary School, one of six elementary schools in the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School District, prides itself on the supportive community, from parent volunteers, to an active Parent Teacher Organization, to community activities - all in place to ensure that the students receive the utmost education plus opportunities to further their learning. Some of these opportunities are in the form of artist-in-residency programs, where a local artist provides drawing instruction for every classroom, an engineering night, where students are encouraged to think like an engineer while using an engineering design method, and a folk dance residency, where students learn different cultures’ dances.

Hanover Elementary is a school of approximately 430 students in grades K – 5. It has proven itself as a recognized school repeatedly by earning the status of “High Performance” on the Minnesota State Assessment tests, but test scores play a small part in why our school is exemplary. The school’s core values guide teachers and students alike, making sure honesty, integrity, fairness, and ethics precede and are part of learning. Innovation, risk-taking, and facing changes are aspects of learning for both students and teachers.

Learning is encouraged outside of the classroom. This is accomplished by commitment to various community service projects, such as baking cookies for soldiers overseas, baking pies for the local food shelf, book drives for children of food shelf recipients, toy and clothing drives, and fundraisers for schools impacted by natural disasters. Oftentimes, community service through our school leads to community service at home.
