Delano Elementary is a K-4 school twenty five miles west of the Twin Cities metro area. The Delano school community represents both Hennepin and Wright Counties, and is located on the banks of the beautiful Crow River. Delano Elementary is well known for its design and layout, making the media center the focal point of the school, demonstrating the school’s dedication to reading.
While our district continued to achieve consistently high scores in many areas, we struggled with a vision for our future. The Delano School community engaged in a strategic planning process during the spring of 2013 that provided the school district with vision for the next five years. With input from school district employees and community members, the group narrowed their focus to these four areas: Technology, Curriculum Alignment, Professional Development, and Facilities. Through the strategic planning process, these four areas are now the focal point for all district goals.
Our district is also proud to be a Quality Compensation (Q-Comp) school district. Through this program our teachers have the opportunity to participate in job-embedded professional development through Professional Learning Communities that focus on best practice research and model teaching.
Delano Elementary prides itself in promoting parent involvement at all grade levels. Parents are encouraged to be active participants in the education of their children. Our elementary parent/teacher group, Partners in Education (PIE), has been active in pursuing fundraising efforts that enhance the student learning experience, specifically technology. Our involved and dedicated parents donated over 7,000 hours of volunteer time to our school last year!
