Deephaven Elementary is a vibrant learning community, continually improving the learning experiences of our students. The staff creates a learning environment that encourages cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy and self-control. Deephaven’s success is evident through our students’ academic growth. Students enter kindergarten on par with national averages, and by the end of fifth grade, the average student is reading a full six grade levels ahead of national norms (NWEA Measures of Academic progress). On state assessments from 2007-2012, overall math and reading proficiency increased to 95 percent, from 86 and 90 percent respectively. The significant gains can be attributed to analyzing student data to create learning goals, pinpointing strengths and areas for growth, a strong curriculum based on reading and math, staff development, technology that accelerates learning, and strong parent involvement.

Deephaven is committed to improving instruction and student learning each year. Data informs instruction and teachers are able to use flexible grouping to meet the needs of students as they grow and change. Parents are involved partners in student learning helping set students up for success.
