Application

Over its 11-year history, Folly Quarter Middle School (FQMS) has earned the reputation as a high achieving school that offers many high quality and student-centered programs during and beyond the school day. It continues to maintain a record of high student achievement and, based on student performance on standardized testing (MSA), the Maryland State Department of Education has recognized FQMS for its outstanding performance each year. Faculty consistently look for opportunities to improve operations and better meet student needs to help them grow socially, emotionally, and academically. This whole-child “continuous improvement” approach was instrumental in helping our students achieve Maryland’s highest MSA scores in 2012 with 98.8% of FQMS students scoring proficient or advanced on the math MSA and 66.7% scoring advanced. Reading scores were similar with 97.3% passing and 77.3% meeting the advanced standard. It is also important to note that 100% of Folly Quarter students who took the Algebra assessment passed this high school graduation requirement and over 98% of our 8th grade students passed their cumulative science MSA. Folly Quarter is very fortunate to have a dedicated and award-winning staff with four individuals having achieved National Board Certification and several others working toward this. The school continues to receive various awards and recognition including the Healthy Howard Gold Award, Maryland Green School, PBIS Gold Standard, and an Award of Excellence from the Maryland PTA. Due to the persistent hard work and dedication of the entire community; students, parents, staff, and business partners, Folly Quarter students are preparing for a successful future - working hard everyday to truly become “College and Career Ready”.
