Morehouse Magnet School, located in Bastrop, Louisiana was created to offer a more challenging academic curriculum for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Reaching beyond the core subjects, Morehouse Magnet students experience unique instruction in art, foreign language, discovery science, computer science, and music. Morehouse Magnet is one of the few schools in Northeast Louisiana that offers an engineering magnet class as well as housing the only gifted education program in our parish.

>Rigorous expectations and differentiation are integral components of daily instruction. Morehouse Magnet goes beyond traditional instructional methods by incorporating a variety of challenging and accelerating multi-sensory activities. Activities include a roller-coaster competition, zoo fair, social studies fair, vocabulary parade, math and science family night, Renaissance Festival, and an annual School-wide Festival. In all these activities, students apply research and writing skills.

>To paraphrase a famous quote, “unity is strength.” With the continued support of our stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of our community); Morehouse Magnet School is a success story. The faculty at Morehouse Magnet show a strong work ethic and strive to instill within our students a “self-motivated, life-long love for learning;” Teachers focus their full attention on creating a positive, productive learning environment based on hands-on learning experiences for our students.

>Morehouse Magnet School’s testing results provide evidence of academic strengths and accomplishments. For years, the Louisiana State Department of Education has recognized our school as a leader in academic excellence. We are presently ranked as an A+ school and place in the top 5% of Louisiana schools. Morehouse Magnet School is committed to exceeding the academic benchmarks as mandated by the federal and state governments each year.
