NBRS Badge for Pearl Watson Elementary School
Pearl Watson Elementary School - Lake Charles, LA

Pearl Watson Elementary is proud to provide all of our students with a nurturing learning environment to meet the learning, academic, physical, and social-emotional needs of the whole child. Our staff works collaboratively with each other, parents, and students to provide a positive and productive learning environment. The key piece of our instructional program is having a meaningful, center based curriculum that is taught daily. Our students set goals to enable them to become well-rounded competitive individuals and lifelong learners. We believe that our students learn best when they are actively engaged in relevant and meaningful learning opportunities. Our students demonstrate their learning through various activities involving higher order thinking skills and strategies. We have an actively involved and highly supportive staff who works hard to provide and maintain strong learning enrichment programs for our students. Our school has seen continual student achievement over the past several years. In 2008, our school’s School Performance Score was 61.8 and in Spring 2013, the score was 94.7 - a significant continual growth of 32.9 points over a five year period. This achievement has allowed us to be recognized by the State of Louisiana as school of continual growth and achievement.
In addition, the school is in a partnership in education with Lake Charles Nissan who recently made a generous donation where ipads were purchased for student use. Our students receive a high quality education with the help of teachers, administrator, and parents working together to ensure that all students receive a meaningful education. Our belief is that a safe school provides a positive and successful learning environment.
