NBRS Badge for Mann Elementary School

Mann Elementary School - Union, KY

Mann Elementary is one of the twenty-three schools in Boone County School District in Northern Kentucky. The Northern Kentucky area has one of the fastest growing populations in the state. Approximately every two to three years, the school district builds another new school. Mann Elementary actually opened the doors for the first time in August 2006.

We very quickly established a learning community founded on respect, high expectations, and rigor. Following the lead from our district motto of, "achieving excellence together," we established a culture in the building that valued children, staff, and parents. There is no doubt that is one key to success at our school. This combined vision and effort has been the cornerstone of Mann.

On any given day it is not uncommon to find at least twenty volunteers in our building. Dads, grandmas, moms, high school students, are just a few that give of their time and talent daily in order to assist as many of our students as possible. Some of these volunteers have completed additional training in Response to Intervention so we can provide more one-on-one assistance to students. These volunteers do not just limit their time to assisting during the school day. They help with our intramural basketball, Odyssey of the Mind, Lego League, and many other programs.

The staff of Mann believes that our students are the heartbeat of our school. They truly make it "all about the students." The staff has embraced the concept of professional learning communities and understands that their professional growth allows the students to reap the benefits. Strong instructional leaders and a passion for education define the staff of Mann.
