Fairmont has an enthusiastic staff committed to providing opportunities so all students learn at high levels. Our Professional Learning Community collaborates to ensure that the needs of students are addressed in a timely, systematic manner. Professional development is job-embedded. Teachers are actively engaged in learning best practices. We provide numerous academic and enrichment opportunities. Most teachers serve as tutors and club sponsors for afterschool and summer programs. We have a musical theatre program that performs a full-scale musical each year. Our International Fete’ is a day of celebrating our diverse population and parent involvement. We offer family learning nights and kindergarten parent days to support students and parents and to increase learning activities at home. We value our families and continually seek ways to increase our partnership.

Several years ago Fairmont was asked to serve as the magnet school for students learning English as a new language. This has created additional supports for students and staff. We developed a partnership with Indiana University Southeast, which offered training for teachers and support staff to help provide the best instruction for English language learners. We have students from local areas as well as Mexico, China, Pakistan, The Congo, India, Samoa and more. Our students become friends with children from all over the world. We are a Title 1 school serving a very diverse population.

The emphasis at Fairmont is to ensure the best academic, social, and emotional learning experiences for each child in our care. We never forget that elementary school is a special time and should be filled with excitement. We believe it is a privilege to make it special for our children.
