NBRS Badge for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy - Chicago, IL

Educating children in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago for over 125 years, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy offers top-tier academics in a nurturing Catholic environment.

Formed by our mission to bring the teachings and values of the Gospel to the children and school community, the curriculum and student life at OLMCA emphasize the holistic development and growth of each student. Our Preschool through eighth grade student population is ethnically, economically, and culturally diverse, but they grow together in a community large enough to offer an abundance of academic and enrichment options yet small enough that every child receives individual attention and support.

Our students start in a Preschool program based upon current best practices which emphasize inquiry-based learning. Our focus on the individual continues throughout the curriculum as students engage in Everyday Math; a program designed by the University of Chicago which provides differentiated instruction for all skill levels. Similarly, our Science and Social Studies curricula feature inquiry-based units developed in cooperation with Loyola University Chicago and the Archdiocese of Chicago.

By the time they graduate and move on to the top high schools in the city, our students are equipped not only with a strong academic background but also with spiritual and social lessons on loving God and their neighbors. Our students win math contests and ballroom dance competitions, science awards and sports tournaments; but above all, they become leaders in their community and in the Church.

Our teaching staff is comprised of innovative and driven individuals who ensure the success and development of each student. With an emphasis on providing ongoing professional development, our teachers are leaders in their fields.
