St. Michael School - Orland Park, IL

St. Michael School is a member of the Archdiocese of Chicago located in the southwest suburb of Orland Park. Instructors provide an outstanding academic foundation rooted in Gospel values to prepare students to reach their highest potential. A rigorous curriculum based on Common Core Standards is presented to 597 students from twelve communities. Teachers practice RTI, meeting regularly with a Resource Team to determine the best direction for each student. Programs such as My Reading Coach, FLRT, AIMSWeb, and the new Learning Enrichment Activities Program (LEAP) provide opportunities for all learners.

Participation in Olympiads, Math League contests, National Geography Bee, Spelling Bees, and Academic Bowls all aid in educational pursuits. A World Language program beginning in Pre-Kindergarten culminates in a daily Spanish curriculum for Junior High students. Writing is a cross-curricular discipline pursued in all grades. Outstanding Junior High programs include development of LEGO NXT robotics program, an NSF grant and a BP A+ Energy grant to create an energy awareness program. Three problem-solving teams are part of FIRST LEGO League. Interactive Distance Learning provides students with global classroom experiences.

A new fully-networked 30-station computer lab, a writing lab, and Resource/Enrichment Lab allows students to move from simply using technology to being able to analyze, learn, and explore.

An extensive athletic program, intramurals, Art Club, Battle of the Books, and Young Scientists are available as after school programs. Yearly drama productions, Band, Choir, Ambassadors, Video, Club, self-defense, yearbook, Junior Marketing, and Mock Trial provide opportunities for all students in their development as future citizens.

Parents contribute time and talent through the School Advisory Board, Family School Association, and Marketing Team enhancing the educational experience.
