Mascoutah School District is located in southwestern Illinois with Scott Elementary being home to the students living on Scott Air Force Base. We are rural, we are suburban, and we are military. This makes for a great mix and a terrific educational experience. Having a military base as an entity of the school district, there is a lasting tradition of a partnership for educating students of military personal. Students coming to Scott bring school experiences from all around the world. With them they bring a giving spirit that permeates throughout our school community. One example of our students’ compassion and dedication for others was their accomplishment of jump roping their way to raising $19,600 for the American Heart Association.

Scott Elementary upholds the district’s tradition of academic excellence, earning adequate yearly progress five consecutive years. Using observation and assessment to sculpt instruction we have remained among the higher ranking schools in our county in academic performance. We achieved the county’s top elementary school status this previous school year.

With 100% buy-in at the beginning of the year, staff reaffirms their commitment to “the View” at Scott Elementary. “The View” is the observable behaviors of staff and administrator. “The View” helps us remember education is all about relationships. We keep in mind parents entrust us with their children so we must earn and build their trust. Making student academic achievement a priority, we use observation and assessment to sculpt instruction. We find excitement in student success. It is understood that staff play a vital role in the success of our students. With this reaffirmation,” the View” at Scott Elementary is in clear sight.
