At Sugar Hill Elementary School, we value high expectations and shared leadership. Teachers maintain high standards for learning and behavior. Students treat each other with respect and follow procedures. The school is a safe, challenging, and interesting place to learn. We bring opportunities to children through wise use of funding. Students experience unique field trips and exposure to technology in every classroom. Students have the opportunity to participate in free morning tutoring, to join either a rigor group which focuses on talent development, or a tutoring group where they receive academic support. Teachers facilitate differentiated, standards-based lessons which are collaboratively developed and strive to meet the individual needs of children by seeking interventions to help them achieve academic success.

Shared leadership is an important part of the academic success that Sugar Hill has experienced. The teachers and parents are included in many major decisions, and input is encouraged through the Leadership Team and School Council. Students have opportunities to lead or serve in the school as a peer tutor, flag manager, student ambassador, or as a school store clerk. Teachers lead collaborative planning sessions twice weekly where assessments are commonly developed and the results are analyzed to determine the best next steps to meet student needs. Finally, our business partners participate at after school events and read to students in classrooms. We truly operate as a team to help our students find success.
