Become a Teaching or Principal Ambassador Fellow!

The U.S. Department of Education Teaching and Principal Ambassador Fellows are outstanding educators who bring field experience to policy discussions at the Department of Education.

Some Teaching and Principal Fellows spend the year in Washington, DC with the Department of Education; others participate part-time from their home schools.

Applications for the 2016 cohort of Teaching and Principal Ambassador Fellows opened on November 17, 2015 and will close on December 14, 2015 at 11:59 PM ET.

2015 Bell Awardee Irma Trosclair to Serve District on School Turnaround Efforts

Irma Trosclair, 2015 Terrel Bell awardee and principal of 2015 NBRS South Crowley Elementary School, Crowley, LA, has been tapped as Lafayette Parish’s first school improvement administrator. Trosclair, who has led to two Louisiana elementary schools to National Blue Ribbon status (Eunice Elementary, 2010, South Crowley Elementary, 2015), has also coached principals at other high poverty schools in the state. School representatives from St. Theresa School (Palatine, IL) at the 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards Ceremony were delighted to learn that three St. Theresa alumni were principals of other 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Dr. Kim Cummins (Class of 1985) now leads the Martin Petitijean School in Rayne, LA; Dr. Thomas Wiatr (Class of 1979) is superintendent of Washburn Schools, (WI), including 2015 NBRS Washburn High School; and Mrs. Mary Bell Pittman (Class of 1973) is principal of Our Lady of Hope School, Potomac Falls, VA.
