The National Association of Secondary School Principals and the National Association of Elementary School Principals have declared October 2013 as ‘‘National Principals Month’’ to honor principals’ dedication to students, teachers, and families all year long.
The National Principals Month website contains a host of ideas for celebrating principals this month, including a video contest featuring “props” to principals, links to supporting organizations, first-person accounts by principals about their work, and Twitter threads by and about principals. How is your school celebrating its leaders?
In his special announcement of National Principals Month, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan praised principals for serving as role models of collaboration and communication and for their laser-like focus on student achievement. Secretary Duncan also noted that the first-ever US Department of Education’s Principal Ambassador Fellow will be announced soon. Watch Secretary Duncan’s announcement.
