Chadwick Elementary School is located in the southwest area of Baltimore County. We serve over 500 students representing a very diverse community. Our student body has roots in 13 different countries of origin. Within this population, over 80 students receive English Language Learner services. Nearly 50% of Chadwick’s students are of African American descent. Approximately 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced meals.

We are united in our focus on continuous improvement to prepare our students to be college and career ready. During grade level meetings and data dialogues, teachers jointly analyze assessment results and collaborate to make data-driven decisions that inform instruction. We are able to see where each student is performing and implement a scaffolded learning framework that targets his or her needs. Resourceful scheduling and interdisciplinary teaching teams allow us to plan and deliver a differentiated program that is personalized, diagnostic, and prescriptive. We are implementing the Common Core by emphasizing rigorous questioning, divergent thinking, and interdisciplinary relevancy in all academic areas.

We believe that meaningful relationships with our children, faculty, and families are a major factor contributing to Chadwick’s success. Our Parent Involvement Committee, Community Parent Liaison, and PTA ensure that all stakeholders have an opportunity to express their interests and concerns. Our annual Multi-Cultural Night, Grandparents’ Day, Parent Breakfasts, Reading Night, Math Night, STEM Fair, and Technology Nights are planned in response to community feedback. Parent informational nights provide opportunities for parents to gain knowledge about the curriculum, Title I Programming, wellness events, and magnet school processes. Programs to nurture student interest in science and technology include MESA Club, STEM, and Mad Science programs.
