NBRS Badge for Red Apple Elementary School
Red Apple Elementary School - Racine, WI
STEAM Museum
Red Apple Elementary School (K-5) is Racine Unified School District's only choice school dedicated to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Allied Arts and Math). All of our instruction centers around these five components. We incorporate Next Generation Science Standards into other subjects such as reading, writing, social studies, health, music, and physical education.
With the support of parents and staff, Red Apple offers our students a variety of opportunities. We are a family oriented building, inviting family members into our building to assist in classrooms, chaperone field trips, and plan school activities. For example, over the last 35 years, our 4th and 5th grades have participated in an Outdoor Education camp teaching students about the human impact on our Earth. Throughout the year, we offer family events that include STEAM fairs, museums, movie nights, picnics and dances. We also invite parents and local businesses into our school every other month to learn about STEAM careers and activities in a program called "Options." Students use Chromebooks regularly in class and also use a green screen for special projects, including the production of our daily morning announcements!
On the most recent state report card (2018-19), Red Apple scored 88.2 (state average was 73.9) out of 100 possible points for Closing Achievement Gaps and we also scored 88.7 (state average was 86.8) out of 100 possible points for On-Track and Postsecondary Readiness. Red Apple offers a variety of learning opportunities to our students and is an exciting place to achieve our STEAM focus!
