Peer Buddies Hour of Code

Ocean Drive Elementary School, located one mile west of the Atlantic Ocean, serves child development through fifth grade students. Ocean Drive is a hub of learning where academic, social, emotional, and physical needs are addressed daily. Community members, parents, staff, and students work together to encourage student success in all areas. By implementing state standards and components of the SC Profile of a Graduate, students are prepared to become productive citizens who are globally competitive in the 21st century. Emphasizing respect, acceptance, and positivity makes our school environment safe, friendly, and non-threatening for students and staff. Growth mindset philosophy aides children in problem solving and overcoming challenges. Staff members build strong relationships with students so that students feel secure and supported. We have high expectations for academics and social/emotional learning while providing engaging activities. Our exemplary teachers strive to enhance the learning experience of each student by embracing the curriculum and utilizing technology. Community partnerships provide enhanced support to create a successful, hands-on, enriched learning environment.

Teachers analyze data to personalize instruction. Students are placed in math and English Language Arts classes based on collected data. This instructional practice has resulted in maximum student growth, and improved student scores. Students in grades 3-5 also create academic goals with the counselor. By taking ownership of their learning, students are intrinsically motivated to do well. Ocean Drive believes in meeting students where they are while working together to move them forward allowing students to reach their greatest potential.
