Science Exploration: Animals & Ecosystems

West Elementary in Ozark, Missouri is home to approximately 645 students and 80 staff members. Building on a long-standing history of academic excellence within Ozark Schools, West Elementary teachers and staff, together with students and families are committed to meeting the needs of students and challenging all students to develop their full potential academically, emotionally, physically, socially, and culturally. We strive to educate both the mind and the soul. Our student motto is:
"Be bold, be kind, be awesome... The choice is yours." We believe these positive affirmations have a significant impact on the climate and culture that fosters high expectations both academically and behaviorally. We work to be an open book for parents to build a trusting relationship between home and school!

Our overall approach to curriculum derives from our mission which is to connect, learn, and grow to ensure a high-quality education for each student's future readiness. Our teachers are committed to transforming learning environments into spaces that promote innovative practices to excite and engage students in their learning. West teachers are tenacious and resilient. They build positive relationships with one another and with students, creating an atmosphere where teachers and students feel safe in setting goals, trying new strategies, taking risks, and collaborating together.

West also believes in fostering community involvement which creates vital relationships that expand the learning environment beyond the walls of our school. We have a thriving reading buddy program which has over 25 volunteers, many who are retired educators, who have chosen to invest in our students. We are so thankful for their support!
