Saint Peter's School - Olney, MD

Saint Peter

Saint Peter's School students enjoying the outdoors and building friendships

For over 60 years, Saint Peter's School has provided a faith-filled and rigorous educational experience to families in the greater Olney, Maryland area. We are an institution rich in Catholic identity and tradition, but we also pride ourselves on innovation; teachers work to stay current with best practices in the classroom and learn new technology to enhance lessons. Saint Peter's School is a Project Lead the Way STEM-certified school for grades kindergarten through eighth, which strengthens our curriculum and encourages creativity.

In March of 2020, when Covid-19 brought unprecedented challenges to the education world, Saint Peter's School continued to provide a positive scholastic experience for students and families. For children in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth, learning did not cease. Within 24 hours of Maryland schools prohibiting in-person instruction, the administration and teachers of Saint Peter's School designed and implemented a plan. We created a schedule of live teacher-led video classes, researched and adopted online platforms to supplement instruction, loaned families electronic devices to make distance learning feasible, created a morning show to keep the community united, and modified long-standing school traditions to be socially distant and safe.

The faculty and staff of Saint Peter's School strive to meet each student where he or she is in the learning process, recognizing that individual attention and differentiated instruction are necessities for student success. Addressing student needs starts with building strong rapports based on trust and respect. These foundations pave the way for inspirational teaching and learning to transpire at Saint Peter's School.
