Our annual Jog-A-Thon that funds art and music.

Our annual Jog-A-Thon that funds art and music.

Phoebe A. Hearst Elementary is comprised of some of the most diverse learners in the Sacramento area. We have created a culture of perseverance and community building through action. Our goal is that all students are recognized and celebrated for their cultural diversity. Along with our commitment to high academic rigor and standards, we embrace the whole child with various in-class and extra-curricular activities. Those activities include art, music, chess club, drama, video production, sports, and much more. A day in the life of a Phoebe student is met with a Universal Design for Learning that is catered to student choice and a continual amount of peer to peer collaboration. Based on continual student feedback and empathy interviews administered, students have expressed that peer review and collaboration result in increase learning. This goes along with our staff's work around John Hattie's Visible Learning.

On top of high academic standards and developing the whole child, we have created a culture of engagement and FUN for our students. Students at Phoebe love to come to school everyday. As such, their learning is affected positively by their love of our school. We engage in many school-wide events such as fundraisers for charity, Friday lunch time dance parties, and spirit weeks where students and teachers alike dress up in themes.

Phoebe A. Hearst is a school that prides itself on having an environment that is conducive to learning and engagement through multitudes of activities and instructional practice.
