Kettering KIDS

Kettering KIDS

Kettering Elementary School is a highly rated, public school located in Long Beach, California. Our small school is tucked away in the southernmost portion of our urban district and is a shining example of what a diverse population of students, along with a committed staff of professionals can do when we set our sights on success. Kettering families live close and far. Forty percent of our student population selected Kettering as a School of Choice. Within the past 5 years Kettering's academic data reflects the amazing growth and abilities of its students. In the last year of testing, Kettering was recognized in 10 out ten categories of progress, including consecutive yearly growth in both math and ELA, closing the academic learning gap, and identifying as a top school in our state's academic index. How did we get there? We got there through our consistent centering on the child; and bringing forward what each student needs through the lens of equity and diversity. Our instructional focus of differentiation guides us as we teach our students to be independent learners. Our teachers and support staff deliberately balance caring relationships with high expectations and supports for student success while providing the foundation for a safe learning environment that values diversity, trust, and respectful communication. But we don't stop there. Kettering's teachers, families and community are strong players in creating an environment where children and families feel welcome and needed. We rely on each other to be part of a village that supports every child, every day. Because of this, we consider ourselves "The Best Little School in the District."
