Diversity flourishes and our Monarchs truly take flight at Monterey Ridge Elementary School. Much like the metamorphosis of the butterfly, students spread their wings in a safe and accepting space. Our school philosophy focuses on developing the whole child. Our diverse student population represents 39 spoken languages, and our school community, climate and culture celebrates the uniqueness each child brings every day. At MRES, Monarchs thrive knowing they belong.

Monterey Ridge teachers and staff are on the forefront of inclusivity; creating and implementing change for special education students through a Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) model. Pivotal to this work was disbanding Special Day Classes to change the educational experience. Every student is seen first and foremost in a general education setting, resulting in unified, positive social and academic interactions between staff and ALL students, on and off campus.

Teachers maintain a superior level of specialized instruction to meet specific grade level and school wide goals through participation in collaborative professional development. Balanced instruction and targeted interventions through differentiation are provided by teachers whether face-to-face or virtually. In addition, students are offered leadership opportunities and extensions of learning through our Victory Garden Program and Monarch Weigh Station Program designation, GATE, X-Ploration, VAPA, PE, Student Wellness, and Safety & Leadership.

We value the strong partnerships we have cultivated with our families, local businesses, and other community partners. Our close partnerships create unique opportunities and meaningful learning experiences inspiring our Monarchs to soar!
