LakeView Technology Academy Activities

LakeView Technology Academy is a choice school that grew from an atypical origin. In 1997, as a response to high school overcrowding, Kenosha Unified School District formed a unique partnership with the local economic development corporation Kenosha Area Business Alliance or KABA and Gateway Technical college. This partnership focused on local workforce development.

We began small, with merely 90 freshmen, in what was a repurposed warehouse with an open floor plan. The elective options were focused solely on manufacturing as a response to the growing need for qualified workers from area businesses. In 2002, the school began expanding further to include areas of industry that were also experiencing the same level of need as manufacturing.

Eventually these options came to be known as Pathways. These are a combination of courses that are teacher-created, Project Lead the Way, and from Gateway Technical College, and are designed to prepare students for today and tomorrow's industry by educating and training students in up to four technical pathways: Pre-Engineering, Manufacturing, Information Technology/Computer Science, and Biomedical Sciences.

Our purpose is to successfully prepare students for whatever they choose, be it college or career, and provide them with appropriate experiences and training in knowledge sets and skills. This is what we call being present focused and future driven, which stands as the vision of LakeView Technology Academy.
