Sharp Community Celebration

Sharp Community Celebration

Joseph D. Sharp Elementary School is located in a family-oriented community where parents say, "This is a great place to raise kids." A comprehensive, intentional, and proactive approach to supporting high academic achievement, along with character development, has always been part of Sharp's journey toward excellence. Our school is a special place because of the many people - students, staff, and families - who work hard, are respectful, and help each other learn. If academics represent "all the items that are added to the plate" for teachers to share and students to consume, our character values are the plate on which all else rests. Sharp School's core values, which focus both on moral and performance character, are reflected in our school's character attitudes and promoted throughout the day and the building. As a school, we continuously reflect about the efficacy and overall sustainability of both our academic achievements and character education initiatives. At Sharp, we continue to "Work Harder to Get Smarter," but most importantly, we know that this great work is not done alone - we work together for and with each other to improve the world around us. Like all great things we experience, it takes thoughtful and caring effort by everyone to continue to thrive. Much time is spent developing strong relationships with students and families which often leads to greater student achievement. We strive to be a welcoming, warm, and collaborative school that focuses on both academics plus character.
