Elkhorn Middle School (EMS) is one of four middle schools in the Elkhorn Public School District, serving students in the suburban areas west of Omaha, Nebraska. We, at EMS, are committed to providing our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to experience success in high school and beyond. We understand the importance of the middle-grade years in which students develop a drive for academic success, discover their passions, and begin to clarify a vision for their future. We guarantee a rigorous core curriculum and maintain high expectations in core areas. We understand that some students will need extra time and support to meet our expectations; and, we are relentless in providing whatever supports are necessary for students to experience success. Consistent progress monitoring and systems of interventions are in place to meet the individual needs of each student. To complement the core curriculum, student schedules include a broad range of exploratory classes, including: world languages, vocal music, instrumental music, art, computer applications, family consumer science, industrial technology and speech and drama. Additionally, Elkhorn Middle School offers a full range of activities and athletics through which students learn the values of persistence, hard work, and contributing to a team (all characteristics that enhance academic achievement). The culture of EMS is one of reflection, collaboration and continuous improvement. Through best practice study and high-quality teaching strategies, staff members strive for ever-increasing effectiveness.
