Ocean City Elementary School - Ocean City, MD

Ocean City Elementary School makes learning about fractions engaging!

Ocean City Elementary School makes learning about fractions engaging!

Ocean City Elementary School is an extraordinary place, where students learn the necessary tools for academic and personal growth. It is the "extra" that the staff and students do every day that makes this ordinary school extraordinary! All 88 staff members are committed to providing the most significant learning environment for all 589 students. This includes spaces such as the cafeteria, where manners are reinforced; media center, where the love of reading is fostered; gymnasium, where health and good sportsmanship are highlighted; and individual classrooms, where student learning is cultivated and celebrated.

Teachers utilize the 5 Dimensions of Teaching and Learning and the school-wide norms daily in the areas of instruction, student engagement, classroom environment, and assessment to meet the individual needs of all students. Providing students with rigorous high-quality instructional programs help to prepare our young learners for future academic success. Students come to Ocean City Elementary excited and ready to learn. Students have encompassed our school's motto, "I have a curious mind, a caring heart and the courage to never give up." Students living the motto at Ocean City Elementary School ask insightful questions, seek out information, love learning, and treat others with kindness and respect. Staff and parents collaborated to develop our "Stand Up, Speak Up" anti-bullying program that teaches our young students how to be empathetic and kind towards others. These extraordinary approaches have helped OCES grow into a school that develops students who are successful in learning and successful at being well-rounded, curious individuals.
