Thomas Jefferson High School is a greater New Orleans area school located in the municipality of Gretna, Louisiana. Thomas Jefferson High School is a public magnet school in the Jefferson Parish Public School System, and we pride ourselves in serving all eligible students and families who live on the "West Bank" of Jefferson Parish. TJHS boasts a vast array of school clubs, sports, and academic programs in an effort to provide our students with an enriching and holistic high school experience.

Thomas Jefferson High School prioritizes academic success, specializing in preparing our students for college and life beyond high school. Thomas Jefferson has increased its vast offerings of on-site dual enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) offerings, in an effort to send our students to college with an abundance of college credits. Thomas Jefferson has also forged a meaningful partnership with Modern States, a philanthropic organization that offers tuition-free AP & CLEP preparation and testing vouchers for all students who successfully complete their courses. These efforts, in addition to strategic ACT preparation programs, have led to a history of continued success for our students. Over 81% of Thomas Jefferson High School 2019 graduates earned college credit via AP and CLEP examinations. In addition, the students of Thomas Jefferson High School have increased the school's average ACT score for 3 consecutive years.
