Kindergarten math time at Shopville Elementary!

Kindergarten math time at Shopville Elementary!

Culture is the first word to come to mind when thinking of Shopville Elementary School! The positive, caring culture is found throughout each grade level, in all classrooms and locations throughout the building, extra-curricular activities, and through school-family partnerships. Families and community members often remark on the family atmosphere at the school. When walking down our halls, culture is evident by observing students working collaboratively, teachers and staff working with students in small groups, and the intense focus on student success. All staff members know each child by name and show interests not only in their current students, but ALL students. While it is fairly easy to measure our academic success through our state assessment results, it is more difficult to measure the profound effect that our culture has on our students' success. Our students are prepared, and our staff is dedicated to putting students first. Our school is successful because all staff truly believe that students will meet high expectations if they know that the staff cares about them. Teachers and staff at Shopville go above and beyond each day in order to demonstrate care and compassion to our students; they build rapport, and it is evident that no student goes unnoticed. The one word that we always come back to, whether discussing high test scores or the low number of discipline reports, is that of culture. In an increasingly difficult society, Shopville strives to provide a safe, happy atmosphere where ALL students excel academically, socially, and behaviorally.
