NBRS Badge for Loge Elementary School

Loge Elementary School - Boonville, IN

Students at Character Counts program.

Students at Character Counts program.

Loge Elementary School has two major initiatives this school year. We will strive to provide innovative curriculum instruction through hands-on experiential learning focusing on STEM and coding. The STEM curriculum is an opportunity for students to become independent and collaborative problems solvers. Teachers will be utilizing STEM strategies as well as Code.org, Code & Go Robot Mouse, and Botley the Coding Robot. We are excited to have students design projects incorporating math and science to develop a well-rounded STEM curriculum.

The other new initiative Loge is implementing this year is trauma-informed practices and social emotional learning strategies. The staff will continue to have professional development opportunities throughout the school year to help with this initiative. Students have been selected through a referral from Behavior RTI process to participate in the weekly SEL lunch bunch. The lunch bunch will teach students SEL skills to support and regulate their emotions so they can then regulate in the classroom. The curriculum is a combination of Mind Up, Emotional ABC's, and The Trauma-Informed School. The PawZone is an amygdala reset room designed to help students regulate their behaviors/emotions so the student can re-enter the classroom "Wildcat Ready." Loge staff will continue to implement trauma-informed practices to best meet the needs of all students.
