All Grown Up! From Kindergarten to Fifth Grade!

Henry S. West Laboratory School offers a curriculum to all students that integrates the Florida Standards and Social Emotional Learning competencies. This Fall, our instructional staff committed their opening of school's professional development day to developing highly effective instructional practices that ensure that all of our students acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage their emotions as well as exercise self-discipline. All staff is involved in nurturing a school climate that supports our students personally and academically.

This year, Henry S. West Laboratory School earned the District's Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Silver designation. This was an incredible honor for a school applying for the first time and is a testament to our teachers' commitment to expose all students to a rigorous curriculum that promotes student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness. Our unique partnership with the University of Miami includes the offering of middle school STEAM electives that are taught in conjunction with university professors.

We are proud of the strong partnership we have fostered with our Parent Teacher Organization to offer a variety of after school programs that include Coding, Robotics, Fashion, Music, Dance and Sports.
