NBRS Badge for Day Creek Intermediate School

Day Creek Intermediate School - Etiwanda, CA

School spirit at Day Creek.

School spirit at Day Creek.

Day Creek Intermediate School is home to approximately 1,250 sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students. Our diverse student population is comprised of multiple cultures, ethnicities, and student abilities. With twenty-one spoken languages, Day Creek strives for inclusivity and kindness. Our unique demographics make Day Creek a place where students want to come to school. From the first year we opened our doors, the motto "Failure is Not an Option" has been the marching call of our students and faculty. Teachers have embraced these words as their motivation to ensure that all students achieve academic and social-emotional success. This is most evident in Day Creek's cornerstone practice, Personally Achieving Character and Knowledge: P.A.C.K.

P.A.C.K. is Day Creek's approach to Universal Access and Response to Intervention. Students have a distinct period integrated within our schedule where they receive targeted intervention and/or enrichment in both English/language arts and math. P.A.C.K. also promotes a holistic approach toward educating a child. We understand that in order for students to be academically successful, they need to feel safe and respected. One day each week, our P.A.C.K. period promotes character development lessons centered on treating others with kindness, respecting our differences, and improving our community. Finally, as a successful Professional Learning Community, collaborative teams meet weekly within their subject areas to analyze formative data and plan effective instructional lessons, thus ensuring that all students have the opportunity to achieve peak academic success.
