Westside Elementary School - Powell, WY

Westside Elementary School is nestled between the Big Horn and Absaroka Mountains in Powell, Wyoming, which is a rural community comprised of hard-working families who place great value in their local education system. Our school is one of four elementary schools within Park County School District #1, and the district as a whole owes its success to the unwavering focus on the well-being and achievement of its learners.

Westside Elementary's mission symbolizes our culture of collaboration and belief that through our collective efforts every child and adult educator can learn and grow. Using PLC guiding practices our team of educators continually refine their craft through professional learning, sharing, and reflection in order to deliver evidence-based and responsive instruction tailored to learners' needs. Together we analyze student outcomes from common assessments and maximize our resources to intervene and enrich our youth with the most effective people and programs within our walls and our community. We truly are a professional learning community filled with dedicated staff and volunteers who remain singularly focused on kids and providing them the very best of resources and support.

A growth mindset is part of our culture and daily work as students set goals, embrace challenges, and exclaim that they "Work hard and grow smarter!" Beyond grit, our students practice kindness informally across school settings but also through our peer mentor program which pairs older students with a younger bucket-pals. We are very proud of our Westside kids and regularly celebrate these fine young SUPER HEROES OF GRIT AND KINDNESS.
