Oak Hill Elementary Veterans Day Ceremony

Oak Hill Elementary is located in rural Somerset, KY, and serves approximately 540 wonderful k-5 students. The entire school staff works diligently to create a positive climate and culture for students daily. Each morning, students are greeted by a number of staff as they enter the building. The administrative team greets the students as they come in the front doors every morning, and each teacher is located outside the classroom to welcome them as well. No matter where they turn during the school day, students have someone that cares about them and invests in them closely.

Oak Hill has also established a culture of continuous growth among staff members. Professional Learning Communities are held frequently to monitor student data. When analyzing student data, teachers focus on the individual student needs. One of the main reasons for Oak Hill's academic success has been the attention given to meeting the diverse needs of each student, and celebrating gains frequently. Each month, students are rewarded in an academic pep rally for all of their hard work in the classroom. These pep rallies have become a staple of the culture at Oak Hill. The school does everything in their power to reward not only academic achievement, but growth as well. Students who may not have the top achievement in the school still find ways to be rewarded by demonstrating growth. Between the positive school culture, family oriented atmosphere, and motivated students, Oak Hill has found an avenue to continued academic achievement.
