Lake Forest South Elementary School - Harrington, DE

Fishing for words during curriculum night

Fishing for words during curriculum night

Lake Forest South Elementary School is nested in the small town of Harrington, DE. We are a K-3 school with a student population of 479. We have a designated building-wide instructional time that provides our students with differentiated instruction in both math and reading. Our teachers utilize small group instruction during our "On Track for Success" time. This allows us to work with our students who are above, on, and below grade level. Our goal is to meet our students at their level and help them grow to reach their potential along with assisting them in perseverance.

We believe our Lake Forest South family will meet the essential needs of all learners by working together as a respectful community. Our classroom environment consists of rich critical thinking processes with visible displays of embedded prompting thinking activities. Visible Thinking is a framework and philosophy that challenges students to think, work through a productive struggle, and reason with evidence, question, and make connections between the real world and the curriculum. As teachers create a culture of thinking in their classroom, they make time for thinking. This enhances our students' creativity aligned with Blooms Taxonomy, and allows our students to flourish to new heights.
