J A Taylor Elementary School - Centerville, UT

J A Taylor Elementary school is located in Centerville, Utah. We serve about 375 students from grades K-6 and also house a district preschool program. At J A Taylor Elementary, our staff has internalized a culture of high expectations and academic and social-emotional success. We are a small school that is always thinking big! The administration, teachers, parents, and students all work closely together to ensure meaningful student positive outcomes. This culture of success is a longstanding tradition that goes back at least to 1987 when our school also received a National Blue Ribbon School Award for Excellence.

Teachers at Taylor are constantly trying to improve and find better ways to engage and motivate students to be successful. Engagement begins at our school with a well-planned lesson that is aligned with district standards. Our teachers try to add activities to each lesson that can be differentiated to the needs of each student. Lessons include a variety of learning activities to facilitate student engagement. Teachers ensure that students are actively participating in the lesson or they modify instruction when students are not engaged. Technology is also used as a tool to enable and encourage engagement as well as deliver instruction. Our school doesn't just focus on proficiency, we focus on the growth of each student. Year after year, Taylor maintains high student growth scores. Teachers work closely with individual students to not only identify and rectify academic deficiencies but also to enhance academic strengths.
