Bayport-Blue Point High School - Bayport, NY

Bayport-Blue Point High School is nestled in a small South Shore community on Long Island. Our school has a proud history of success including being named a New York State Reward School, an AP Honor Roll School by the College Board, and a Best Community for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation. Our enrollment of under 800 students in grades 9-12 allows our students to be well known by the faculty and staff of our school. Our school is designed to give students personal attention to help them to reach their personal goals. Over 90 percent of our students go on to college. As such, our high school program is focused on college readiness. Our building's faculty emphasizes the important of challenge and rigor in all of our courses. Our self-selection policy allows any student the opportunity to take college level courses in high school providing they have completed the prerequisite course work and are willing to work hard.

In addition to the core curriculum, our school offers a wide-reaching elective program designed to help students cultivate their future career interests. We also offer students the opportunity to nurture their talents and abilities throughout school's comprehensive athletic and performing arts program. In these programs, students learn lifelong skills of team work, critical thinking, and problem solving.

Key to our school's success has been our personal approach to working with students. This personal approach is seen in all facets of our school. From individual writing conferences held by English and social studies teachers, to study sessions held during and outside of the school day, students are supported in reaching their fullest academic potential. In addition, our guidance counselors work closely with students and families to help them set goals, monitor their progress, and create post-high school plans. This individual care and attention is the hallmark of our school and ultimately our key to success.
