Saint Peter's Elementary School - Waldorf, MD

St. Peter's School was established in 1956 as a grade one through grade six Catholic elementary school with 116 students. It is located in Southern Maryland. When the school first opened it was staffed by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. Today, 61 years later, the school has come a long way. Enrollment, now at 276, provides our teachers daily with the opportunity to shape and mold young minds, always with the idea in mind that Jesus Christ is the reason for our school.

Our school is unique for many reasons. Whether it be our "house" system used in the middle school to encourage our students to work together or the school community working together to identify and solve challenges that come our way (such as when our county decided to no longer offer reasonable bus services to our school, our parents decided to transport their own children), we find unique ways to solve issues. Our teachers differentiate instruction in many ways and offer endless opportunities for student collaboration. We spend a lot of time reaching out to our families as we believe our success comes from the support of those whose children we teach. Many years have been spent upgrading our technology as we realize our students must be prepared for a 21st century workplace. This year we added Google Chromebooks to our middle school classrooms so that there will be no limit to where our students may go!
