Andrew Trautmann Elementary School, recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Recognition in 2010 and 2016, is part of twenty-seven elementary schools in the United Independent School District. This uniquely designed school was constructed in 1982 in the city of Laredo, Texas. Instruction is based on our mission to inspire students to reach their fullest potential by creating a learning atmosphere that depends on the cooperation and commitment between students, parents, staff, and community members.

At ATES, students are always expected to achieve academic excellence. Implementation of school wide activities, such as live daily news broadcasts through V-Brick, provides an opportunity for students to showcase innovative science experiments, scholarly vocabulary of the week, daily weather forecasts, Mighty Writing activities, and Counselor's and Librarian's Corner. All Trautmann students, Pre-K to 5th, are expected to actively partake in this daily activity, thus enhancing their communication skills, as well as developing their knowledge and helping them generalize concepts through hands-on activities and real-life experiences. ATES develops well-rounded individuals through the implementation of character-building activities such as the Honor's Choir, Fine Arts plays, Oral Poetry Club, Honor Society, Tomorrow's Teachers, and Chess Club. Our goal of achieving academic success and keeping Trautmann strong is supported by a unique sense of commitment and determination from this entire learning community. The work ethic instilled in students is modeled behavior by all working individuals at our campus. We firmly believe that when one leads by example, students follow and succeed.
