Homecoming Pep Rally 2016

Homecoming Pep Rally 2016

Miles Elementary is a small rural school situated among cotton fields in West Texas. The community of Miles has a population of 823 and is located 17 miles east of San Angelo. The people of Miles are immersed in the farming tradition and are proud of the work ethic and contributions that they make to society. As the farmers sow, so do the teachers at Miles Elementary, and both are planting seeds that will produce a great harvest.

Miles Elementary is successful because of the passion of the teachers and staff and the knowledge each has of the students and their individual needs. To address academic needs, best practices, research-based interventions, and other innovative strategies are incorporated. Needs are assessed, data is tracked, and adjustments are made to meet the identified needs. Most recently, a new program has been implemented to address the need for improved executive functioning and attention. As students and their needs change, so do the strategies. Individualized and campus-wide strategies are scheduled, implemented, and tracked to create an efficient system and ensure academic growth.

The culture and climate of Miles Elementary are very positive and supportive. Students are proud to be Bulldogs and are fortunate to be able to participate in district-wide activities such as pep rallies and sporting events. Relationships are developed and nurtured as students interact with peers, older students, and staff. These relationships allow students to develop social and emotional skills necessary to thrive in school and in the real world.
