Brownsville Early College High School (BECHS) is located in Brownsville, Texas - the southernmost tip of Texas and the contiguous United States. Although this is an impoverished community, it is rich in culture and heritage shared with our sister city of Matamoros, Mexico. Our school reflects the community's desire to increase the percentage of their population with a four year degree. College preparation is at the core of the school's design, resulting in college attainability for 100% of BECHS students. The high expectations held for all attending students, through a rigorous curriculum, produces high performance results. All curricula at BECHS is structured around the Common Instructional Framework and College Career Readiness Standards integrating Advanced Placement strategies and coursework while accommodating the various learning styles and needs of our students through differentiated instruction. Through instructional scaffolding and inquiry, teachers facilitate students with preparation for their junior and senior year at the local university. Our small school culture creates an environment that feels more like a family than a school. This bond is strengthened by our active involvement in our community through the many volunteer opportunities provided by the clubs on our campus. Lifelong learning, leadership, and community involvement are the core values of our campus. These values empower the students at Brownsville Early College High School to be a voice promoting positive change and growth in our ever-changing global community.
