Life at Jackson Elementary Collage

Life at Jackson Elementary Collage

Nestled in the heart of North Memphis, Jackson Elementary School is a great place to learn and achieve. It has been a haven for the entire community for over 50 years. Jackson's mission is to ensure that students learn skills, acquire knowledge, and develop character in a diverse, nurturing, learning environment. Having overcome many challenges in its history, perhaps the most dramatic being a shift in student demographics which necessitates bridging the English-Spanish language barrier. To facilitate parental involvement in spite of language differences, bilingual communication is sent home and a translator is present at school events.

This highly sought-after school proudly recognizes former scholars who have overcome challenges and matriculated through higher education, with its "Jackson's College Wall of Fame," which graces the school's entrance hall. Conferences are held amongst parents, pupils, and educators to track progress using student data notebooks. Special events, such as Hispanic Heritage Festival and Mad Scientist Day, bring families to school to enrich learning and strengthen the home-school connection. Within professional learning communities, Jackson teachers collaborate to develop quality instruction, create assessments, and analyze student data. These dynamic classroom instructors offer numerous pathways for students to maximize their potential by providing engaging lessons that reach learners at their present levels of performance. ESL and support teachers provide intensive intervention to cement learning. Working together as one unified team, Jackson Elementary is focused on student success, every day, in every way!
