St. Genevieve School - Flourtown, PA
Saint Genevieve School celebrates the arts!
Founded in 1955, St. Genevieve School in Flourtown, PA, remains grounded in its Mission Statement, as it continues to provide a "rigorous and relevant education rooted in the Catholic faith." The educational program is structured to meet the spiritual, academic, social, physical, and cultural needs of each student. Faculty and administration work to develop students who have a sense of faith and service to others while emphasizing their responsibilities as citizens in a global community.
Core curriculum standards focus on developing independent and comprehensive readers, writers, listeners, speakers, and thinkers who are prepared for the 21st century. Teachers consider all learning styles when planning instruction and employ various methods to reach kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learners. All academic programs are integrated and enhanced by the use of technology including iPads, netbooks, and Smart Boards. Core curriculum teachers share unit content themes, so lessons in other classes can be anchored to core curriculum as often as possible. Other curriculum classes and varied extra-curricular programs enhance and develop skills for character development, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
Students from eight different school districts choose to attend the school, and the caring family atmosphere is often cited as a determining factor in choosing the school. The school administration actively engages faculty, students, parents, parishioners, and community members to be collaborative stakeholders as school volunteers and committee members. This collaboration provides an atmosphere of respect, high expectations, responsibility, and trust allowing each student to learn and grow to his fullest potential.
