Adrian Elementary School - Adrian, MO

Adrian Elementary is a PK-5 grade school located in rural west central Missouri in Adrian. Traditionally, the Adrian community has been very supportive of our schools and there is a sense of "Blackhawk Pride" that runs deep. Various school events including athletics and arts, are well attended by community members, including those with no family members enrolled in the school. "Blackhawk Pride" also extends into academics as the community also has high expectations in this area. Over the last 10 years, Adrian Elementary students have surpassed the percentage of students meeting the state standard on state assessments by a mean of 22%. For six of the past seven years, 76% or more of Adrian Elementary students have met the standard on state assessments, with the trend increasing over the past six years with an all-time high of 88.3% in 2015. This high performance is something that the community is very proud of. The keys to success of Adrian Elementary students lies within the high expectations for all students combined with the necessary supports each individual student receives from a staff that is committed to the success of all students regardless of ability or background. Each grade/content area has identified learning targets, including those that are essential, that align with the Missouri Learning Standards. Instruction and learning are executed in a way that identifies where each student is in his/her learning with individual student emotional, social, and cognitive needs as a basis of instruction while helping students also become responsible and caring citizens.
